Snowy Day Off

We had the day off from school today for Martin Luther King Day and we got an extra bonus of a snow storm!! Through out the day we got almost a foot of snow, I think. I was able to get the bird feeders out and filled prior to the storm, so we will be on the look out for appreciative birds.

Stella and Jackson got to spend almost the entire day sledding together! We pulled them in the toboggan up to the playground, Scott did most of the pulling because they weigh probably 80 pounds together! They thought that was fantastic.Once we got there the kids made snow angels, threw snow balls and just had good, clean, outdoor fun! Then it was off to the hill where they went down the in the saucer! They had so much fun.
We came home for a great lunch and for Jackson to rest and Stella to work on her fairy mobile and then it was back out again!
This time, the hill had been packed down nicely from the morning runs and so it was faster and they went a lot farther. We incorporated some good snow ball fights and a trip over to the snow covered playground, before we had to head back home because it was getting dark.

They both had a really fun day. I love that I live in a place where we can spend the whole day outside, surrounded by farms and the quiet of nature; the trees coated in snow and the sky returning to the color of blue having weathered the stormy grey...
