This weekend was filled with blueberry picking, blueberry deliveries and blueberry jam making! We went up the mountain where we spent Saturday afternoon picking low bush, organic blueberries. Now, I had never picked low bush and was warned that they were indeed, low to the ground and could cause some back aches, but who could worry about such things.
Given the gorgeous surroundings

The never ending fields of blueberries

And the high hopes of turning them into a great many things.

We did about 60 lbs in one hour the first day, sorted them through the conveyor belt and then delivered them like little Berry Fairies to our families. We then went home and made our first batches of blueberry jam. We had picking a while ago at a conventional blueberry farm and I had desperately wanted to redeem my jam making abilities and make blueberry jam and what a great job we did. They came out absolutely wonderful!

We did about 32 jars our first batch and went on to make many more that same evening. We went back on Sunday and picked 120 more lbs and made even more jam. We have high hopes of selling not only the berries, but also different sized jars of the wonderfully delicious jam.
