Water, Water Everywhere

I got to fully enjoy the lake on Saturday soaking up the sun and enjoying the wind in my hair! After some work on the property, we cleaned up the boat and took the first ride of the season. It was nice and calm and not too many people were out yet. There is a sweet little family of loons that are protecting their nest and anticipating the arrival of a little babe. There are some moments where you get a glimpse into how humans and nature can coexist and how sometimes we can actually help our fellow creatures. The loon nest was roped off on all sides with signs up stating that there were loons nesting and to not cross the barricade. Whatever humans can do to help nature is so important to me and something as easy as roping off a nest can make all the difference.
We called up some of our dearest friends and after a short tour got right back out on the water and after a quick rescue of Alyson's hat, we were in the clear to enjoy the lake. It definitely was a lot busier in the afternoon and the wind had picked up making the water more choppy, but there were lots of people taking advantage of the warm temperatures and trying their hand at water sports like water skiing and tubing.
Jeff and Alyson brought their great pup and boy oh boy is she a water dog. She had a blast in the boat and couldn't wait to leap into the water (well more like gently ease herself into the water.) Jeff and Scott got right in as well cooling off for the first time this year in the cool waters.
Alyson and I soaked up the sun while tossing the tennis ball for Mischa (sorry guys if it's misspelled) off the dock while the boys took to the water.
Alyson had to jet off to prom-no she isn't an 18 year old high school student, but she is a teacher and had to chaperon this year. Hey, I would totally do it-can you imagine what stories you would have to tell after a Manchester prom!!?
Jeff, Scott and I decided to keep the party going by having a cook out at Jeff and Alyson's house followed by a bonfire. Dinner was delicious, the beer was amazing and there was much music and shenanigans enjoyed by us all-even the neighborhood kids jumped the fence to hang out!
